General Town Planning Fees

Town_Planner_200

Town planning fees vary with the complexity of the project.

Town planning consultants can work on an hourly rate or a set fee. Planners will usually charge a set fee for preparation and lodgement of a development application and any reports. If the council asks for further information then planners usually charge on an hourly basis.

Hourly fees can occur on projects that require ongoing consultation and involvement from a town planner. Town planners generally charge between $80 and $200/hour depending on the town planner's experience.

The total fee that a town planner charges for simple development application is around $2,000 to $4,000 and around $5,000 to $9,000 for complex development application.

A simple development can be a subdivision of one onto two lots. A complex development can be a multi unit development where the proposal is above the required minimum height.

Town Planning fees for large scale subdivisions and multi unit developments start at around $10,000.
