Each council has their own level of assessment for each type of development as long as it is in accordance with the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 and any Regional Plans. Some of the projects that might require council approval are:

  • New house on a small lot
  • Two houses on one lot
  • Subdivisions
  • Townhouses and Units
  • Duplexes
  • Industrial Buildings
  • House extension
  • Carports and Garages
  • Building a house above the maximum height, and
  • Various council relaxations
