Categories of Development in Queensland
There are five categories of development under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.
Exempt Development - A development permit is not necessary for exempt development (a building permit might be required).
Self-Assessable Development - A development permit is not necessary for self-assessable development. However, self-assessable development must comply with applicable codes.
Assessable Development - A development permit is necessary for assessable development.
Compliance Development - A compliance permit is necessary for development requiring compliance assessment. A development permit is not necessary for development requiring compliance assessment.
Prohibited Development - An application or request for compliance assessment can not be made for development if the development is prohibited development.
A qualified a town planner is required to assist you in assessing the category of assessment that is applicable to your development.
